Hand-made

Handmade is a sub-label of Mirran Threat that is devoted to the CD-R. Taking full advantage of the technology available, many of the releases are so-called hybrid releases, which feature not only music, but graphic files viewable on virtually all computers. In this way, many of the more long-term DWM projects that feature both music and paintings can now be collected onto a single release. Like Mirran Threat, all Handmade releases are either from DWM or bands and/or artists somehow related to DWM. Below is only a partial list of all Handmade releases. Other DWM releases in this series can be found under the Momentum and Plop Art pages. Other artists available on Handmade include Something To Burn and Thumper, which can be found on the eMpTy website.

Title: Phire

Label: Hand-made Format: CD-R Catalog #: Make One (MT-329) Release Date: July 1st, 1996

This release was the first release on the Mirran Threat sub-label Handmade, a collaborative effort between DWM and Tesendalo. Musically, it consists of one almost hour long track of very slow moving ambient music, not unlike the CDs of Ambiall which was recorded and released a full decade later. Featuring performances by Peter Schuster and Joseph B. Raimond. Each cover is individually burned. For the first ten years or so this release, like the other early Handmade releases, came with printed paper labels, but after some complaints that the paper labels made the CD-Rs unplayable, all Handmade releases switched to printed, full color labels.

Title: Not Recorded Remixed

Label: Hand-made Format: CD-R Catalog #: Make Two (MT-344) Release Date: March 3rd, 1999

This CD-R release is again a collaborative release with Tesendalo, and was the second ever release on our Hand-made label. Utilizing the sounds generated by the scratched vinyl of the Not Recorded single as a sound source, it was then multi-tracked and finally mixed by Peter Schuster. Each cover is unique, using spray paint on the inside of the plastic cover and trays.

Title: Machines Don't Bleed

Label: Hand-made Format: CD-R Catalog #: Have Five (MT-441) Release Date: June 5th, 1998

This release contains the 40 graphic works produced by Joseph B. Raimond, with the help of Jeandra Raimond, Stefan Schmidt and Gerhard Heimrath, to augment the "Machines Don't Bleed" audio recordings of the same name. Like the audio tracks in this project, these works were produced by mixing photos and/or paintings with the very limited computer graphic technology of the time. This was the first Doc Wör Mirran "Hand Made" CD-R containing only graphic files and no music at all. Originally, there were plans to release a limited edition of the audio CD, each with one of the original forty signed prints and the corresponding original computer disc, but these plans, with this release of all the paintings on one handy CD-R, were then abandoned.

Title: Edges 1 & 2

Label: Hand-made Format: CD-R Catalog #: Make Ten (MT-371) Release Date: April 21st, 1999

The first installment of a series of "Edges" releases, a series of recordings using abrupt, random and uncontrolled methods of composition. Musique Concrete, triggered analog synthesizers, and sampling, the Edges series are meant to augment not only the book of the same name by Joseph B. Raimond, but also the ongoing series of paintings and ceramic works that he has been working on for the last twenty years. Not easy listening, to say the least. Features a hand cut, puzzle cover and tray card utilizing the angular effect of the Edges graphic motif to full effect. Music and art by Joseph B. Raimond and Jeandra Raimond.

Title: Taltos

Label: Hand-made Format: CD-R Catalog #: Make Nine (MT-479) Release Date: June 15th, 1999

The Taltos series is a series of 100 small watercolor and acrylic paintings painted onto paper, then glued onto cardstock. All pictures in the series are 15 1/2 x 23 cm, and were painted in Fürth, Germany, and Pine Valley, California. Produced over a period of almost two years, from January 1995 until October 1996, this series of paintings is the companion to the Doc Wör Mirran audio recording "Lasher". Like the music, the paintings were created to express a somewhat "dark" atmosphere. It can sometimes be difficult with purely abstract paintings to express a particular emotion clearly to a viewer, but these pictures have succeeded in doing just that. Unlike the music, the pictures do not correspond specifically to a particular scene in any of the books, and are perhaps created more to augment the music than anything else. This CD-R is the second graphic DWM release on Hand-made, a subsidiary of Mirran Threat, and features only graphic files, no music.

Title: Discipline

Label: Hand-made Format: CD-R Catalog #: Make Twelve (MT-514) Release Date: April 12th, 2001

Another hybrid release, this CD-R features both graphic tracks as well as an hour long audio track. The project started out as a series of small paintings. In all, sixteen paintings were produced in total. All of them can be viewed on this release, and also comprise the cover art. Musically, the long audio track is very experimental in nature, being composed exclusively with old analog synthesisers. Liner notes on the graphic program are also included.

Title: Jing Fired

Label: Hand-made Format: CD-R Catalog #: Make Fourteen (MT-520) Release Date: August 24th, 2001

Yet another hypbrid release, this one features two audio tracks and the corresponding series of 42 paintings collected together on the computer track. The paintings were all painted in August and September, 1999. The musical part was recorded in 1997, and is very ambient in nature. It was originally part of a planned 10 CD set, what later became our "Ambient" project, but for reasons now forgotten, were released in this form instead. The name of the project was inspired by and taken from an obscure book by John Brunner called "The Crucible Of Time". All music and graphics by Joseph B. Raimond

Title: Pseudo Me, Pseudo You

Label: Hand-made Format: CD-R Catalog #: Make Fifteen (MT-522) Release Date: September 1st, 2001

This relatively short release features three tracks originally recorded as backing tracks for the live collaboration concert by DWM together with Tesendalo and the ANA Orchester as support for Sonic Youth and Sean Lennon in Munich on June 23rd, 1998 and released as "Sewing Me, Sewing You". Here, these tracks appear on their own, without the live augmentation. Due to length restrictions, track two was not used in the concert, and thus is exclusive to this release. Here, DWM consisted of Joseph B. Raimond on all instruments and cover art, Bernd Spoerl adding song titles.

Title: Landscape

Label: Hand-made Format: CD-R Catalog #: Make Sixteen (MT-523) Release Date: November 1st, 2001

With this release, DWM attempts to bring the concept of field recordings to a new level. Recorded, produced and copied entirely at Two Car Garage Studioes in Fuerth, the audio track of this hybrid release features sounds recorded directly in front our studio door one summer morning. To be heard are of course the treated sounds of nature, as our studio lies directly next to a nature reserve. Also audible include trains driving over the large steel trestle bridge about a half mile away, as well as the chatting and discussions of people walking past our studio on that fine summer day. Also included on the hyrbrid CD is a graphic track, viewable on any computer, which includes reproductions of all fiftyseven "paintings" produced for this release. Like the "music", the graphic works are photographs of the nature in front of our studio door, including a field, the river and a small wooded area, all treated and enhanced through various computer graphic programs. It is amazing just how colorful and expressive such paintings can become through a computer. The CD also includes full liner notes as well as a bit of real nature behind each tray card. A special release.

Title: Ambiall

Label: Hand-made Format: 10x CD-R Box Catalog #: Make Twentytwo (MT-561) Release Date: August 31st, 2008

A ten CD-R box set, this release features ten, one-hour long tracks, one per CD, all in a very slow moving, romantic and quiet setting. The first of two releases in our mammoth Ambient project. All packed together in a special box, each CD features full color label printing. Performed by Joseph B. Raimond, Adrian Gormley and Ralf Lexis, with cover and label art provided by Joseph B. Raimond, Jeandra Raimond and Cedric Raimond.
